BDI Launches “Lincoln’s Lickety SPLIT” — a brand new dessert in support of a Manitoba boy’s dream come true
Meet Lincoln
A hard working Prairie boy with a big dream!
According to his dad, the first thing you need to know about 4-year-old Lincoln is that he’s a hard worker. You might even say he gets things done lickety split.
“Every day he helps out on the farm doing chores: feeding animals, slinging rocks, and taking care of his miniature horse, Hercules.”
While that might sound like the norm for a family on the farm in Anola, Manitoba; to Lincoln’s parents - he is their miracle. Lincoln has a severe form of Cystic Fibrosis, a disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and organs in the body.
“Lincoln’s lungs are failing him,” shares Lincoln’s dad, Pierre, “but between daily physiotherapy, staying active, and his medication, he’s able to live a full and happy life day to day. And he does.”
When he’s not helping on the farm - Lincoln is dreaming BIG: he wants to travel all across Canada with his family when it’s safe to do so. Because Lincoln can’t travel commercially due to his illness, his family will road trip the country in their family RV.
This summer, the Bridge Drive In and St-Leon Gardens want to help The Dream Factory make that dream come true in a very sweet way!
Starting July 22nd, BDI and St-Leon Gardens are teaming up to launch “Lincoln’s Lickety Split” a brand new signature dessert that combines all of Lincoln’s favourites!
The Lickety Split begins with a base of delicious strawberry ice cream made from fresh, local St-Leon strawberries, topped with Manitoba saskatoons, blueberries, and more strawberries, and completed with a banana and whipped cream - of course!
This brand new dessert (also available as a cup or a cone) is a fresh and local treat that will be available at the Bridge Drive In all summer long.
In 2019, the BDI raised funds through their Cloud Nine cone in support of Drea’s dream come true, and are proud to be involved once again.
“For many families in our community, the BDI represents quality time spent together,” says Justin Jacob, owner at the BDI, “To be able to help ensure families in Manitoba going through some very difficult situations can also spend that time together and make those memories is really important to us.”
