March 2020: A Dream Goalie Lesson, A Few Updates, and NEW Virtual Parties!

The last few weeks have been full of uncertainty for all of us. We hope that you are all staying healthy, and safe; and are sending a little bit of extra love to our Dream Factory families already dealing with some very tough situations.

It is our absolute privilege to work alongside families in our community who have children battling life-threatening illnesses. Together, with the support of our community, we are able to bring dreams to life and create some truly magical moments.

We have a responsibility to keep our Dream Families, volunteers, and supporters safe during challenging times. In light of the current situation surrounding COVID-19, The Dream Factory has implemented a number of measures to date to ensure safety of our immediate community, you can read those in full here.

Kylan’s Goalie Dream Come TRue!

We thought this was pretty cool and wanted to share! A few months back, Kylan's dream was to receive a goalie lesson from his hockey heroes - Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit, and our friends at the Winnipeg Jets went above and beyond for us.  We were very lucky to have Sportsnet join us to capture this dream day on the ice. Check it out!

Days like this would not be possible without the incredible support of our Dream Factory Ambassador, Josh Morrissey. Josh works so hard to make dreams like this come true for kids in our community, and we can't thank him enough for creating moments like this that are just magic!

virtual Drop In Dream Parties!

The Dream Factory is all about creating more fun memories for kids battling life-threatening illnesses here in Manitoba. Even though things are uncertain right now, it's important that we keep doing our part to bring smiles to the faces of kids fighting some tough battles here in our community

That's why, starting Thursday March 26th, we have been hosting virtual Drop In Dream Parties for our Dream Kids and families, and any other families in our community who want to participate. We are partnering with our friends throughout the community to host a half an hour of fun, twice a week, for the next little while

Join us online Tuesdays at 1:00PM or Thursdays at 11:00AM for a variety of activities. It could be story time, a sing-a-long, a simple craft, or show and tell! We'll always share what we have coming up, and who our special guest will be!

There's no need to RSVP - just drop in! Come by whenever you and your family could use a little boost of fun

All of our sessions will be hosted online via ZOOM! It's very easy to use, and the link is available here. If you need any help getting set up, don't hesitate to contact Andrew or Karly and we'd be happy to help!

This month, The Dream Factory's ambassador Josh Morrissey celebrated a very special day and our Dream Kids wanted to send some birthday wishes his way!

Josh does so much for The Dream Factory and constantly goes above and beyond to help make more Dreams come true in our community. We are so proud to have him as part of our family, and are wishing him a very happy birthday!

deadlifts for dreams update

In light of social distancing recommendations related to COVID-19, we were terribly disappointed to postpone Deadlifts for Dreams in both Winnipeg (March 28th, 2020) and Brandon (April 5th).

These events existed to make dreams come true for Apollo and Logan - and the Deadlifts for Dreams community absolutely showed up to make that possible. We cannot thank you enough. As of today's fundraising total, we are on track to raise close to $30,000 - something that would never have been possible without you.

Please know that we fully intend to reschedule both of these events when it is advisable to do so.

We are so looking forward to celebrating all of your hard work fundraising with two absolutely amazing meets in Winnipeg and Brandon later this year! If you have any questions or require additional information, please don't hesitate to contact Andrew!

Meet A Dream Maker: Youth In Philanthropy Students

Throughout the early part of the year, we were fortunate to meet with many students in Manitoba participating in The Winnipeg Foundation's Youth In Philanthropy program. These students are interested in the importance of philanthropy in our community, and dedicated time to researching and exploring charitable organizations in sectors across Winnipeg.

Hosting Youth in Philanthropy students at The Dream Factory is always a highlight for us. Answering questions about how the process works, sharing Dream stories, and learning more about their own philanthropic interests is a wonderful experience and we are always so impressed by our community's youth.

This month, we want to thank the Youth in Philanthropy students who have stopped by over the last few months to learn more about The Dream Factory, as well as those who have supported us in the past. You have helped bring more dreams to life in your community, and we thank you for your hard work and dedication!
