Kids have wild imaginations! When we ask Dream Kids what their Dream Come True might be, they give us all types of answers. Many Dream Kids are big sports fans, so it’s no surprise that sometimes their passion for sports seep into their Dreams! Dreams surrounding the Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and sports teams from other cities have all come true thanks to our incredible Dream Community. Today we’re looking back on some great sporty Dreams!

Gone Fishin’

Dream Kid Patrick has the soul of a fisherman. He will head out in any condition – even on those days where it’s -45 degrees to go ice fishing! He encouraged his grandmother to get into fishing too – she even has her own gear because of Patrick. Patrick worked during the summer in 2019.

Originally, Patrick’s Dream was to go deep sea fishing in Hawaii, but because of the pandemic, travel-related Dreams had to be postponed, so instead Patrick Dreamed more locally. He thought about asking for a boat or doing a fishing trip in Manitoba. But he realized he could use all sorts of different fishing tools for anything from ice fishing to fly fishing. Once he thought about that for a while, Patrick decided that his Dream would be a full fishing setup, courtesy of The Fishin’ Hole!

Patrick is most looking forward to trying Fly Fishing – something he’s never tried before!

Winnipeg Mega-Sports Fan!

Dream Kid Delaney has always been a huge sports fan. She loves to show pride of Winnipeg sports teams – hockey, baseball, football, you name it. “When I first met The Dream Factory, I couldn’t believe that they were giving me the opportunity to choose almost anything I wanted to do,” Delaney shared. “Anything I could Dream of.”

It took Delaney some time to decide on what she wanted to do, and in the end, she chose a VIP Winnipeg sports fan experience! She would be able to see what goes on behind the scenes of all her favourite teams – it was her #1 choice.

She met with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, toured their stadium, watched a practice, and met the team and coaches! When she attended a game shortly after, her name was displayed on the scoreboard! Delaney also got to see all the behind-the-scenes action and meet the Winnipeg Goldeyes team and coaches. Before the game began, she went out on the field during the umpires meeting – a one-of-a-kind experience. Finally, Delaney got to see a Winnipeg Jets game (which they won!). She got to meet some players and coaches after the game here as well!

Goalie Training with the Best

A few years ago, Dream Kid Kylan experienced a Dream Come True when he hit the ice for goalie practice with his hockey heroes, Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit, and the entire Winnipeg Jets team! Kylan got ready in the Jets’ locker room - Kylan also received a very cool custom goalie’s helmet, airbrushed with a custom Winnipeg Jets paint job with realistic jet planes on it.

Kylan hit the ice and got a private tutoring session with the pros! Connor, Laurent, and the Jets shared pointers and tips with Kylan, giving him some extra practice in front of the net.

Flying with Eagles and Ravens

The Dream Factory wrapped up the year 2020 with our 800th Dream come true! Dream Kid Ethan was 13 at the time and was bravely fighting a brain tumour. For his Dream come true, Ethan was dreaming of a brand-new bedroom with a few football-themed touches that he and his twin brother, Julian, could share and enjoy for years to come.

The boys’ bedroom turned out amazing, with the comfiest of bunk beds, and the crème de la crème – an NFL mural featuring a clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Ethan’s favourite team, the Philadelphia Eagles! With this full-wall-mural as the last thing he sees before he goes to bed, how could Ethan not dream of tackles and touchdowns?
